Elders
Elder Mona Nelson – Elder Betty Tezak
Purpose
To use our resources to educate and impact individuals and families to develop their personal relationships with God while strengthening our community of faith.
Team Configuration
One of the team members shall be a Ruling Elder. This person will serve as a liaison between the Team and Session. There is no specific number of individuals for this team; suggested guidelines, minimum of 6 to 8 and no more than 15.
Responsibilities
- Develop Educational programming for Nursery age to 5th grade children (Sunday School)
- Develop / Support Educational programming for Adult Sunday School programs
- Recruit/Train/Support Sunday School Teachers
- Support/Oversee the Nursery Teacher/Coordinator
- Review and adjust Nursery Teacher/Coordinator Job Description
- Provide an annual job review
- Help to maintain schedule, bulletin, and newsletter items
- Provide Childcare during Sunday Worship Service
- Provide Childcare for other functions upon special requests
- Support/Oversee Children Choir (currently run during Sunday School hour)
- Develop and run VBS programming in the summer
- Collaborate with the Youth and Family Ministry Team as needed or requested
- Supervise the Summer Children’s Church programming
- Plan and present the Children’s Christmas program
- Maintain and supply equipment, materials, and rooms for teaching programs
- Help develop and enforce childcare policies
- Oversee recruiting of all Christian Education Ministry Team Members (volunteers)
- Provide input for annual operating budget by August 1
- Control and approve budget expenses incurred in Ministry Team’s area of responsibility
- Provide a written Annual Report of the current year’s activities, due by mid-January
- Provide Session support to DCE
- Provide Guidance for and supervision of DCE
- Work with Other Ministry Teams to fulfill the Mission Statement of First Presbyterian Church
- Provide resources of print and non-print materials
- Provide required information to the office concerning newsletters, bulletin, meeting, calendar needs
- Organize and plan special family events
