Sanctuary Choir The Elk Rapids First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir welcomes new members all year long. We sing inspiring anthems and hymns at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. worship services. Attendance at both services is optional. Prior vocal or choir experience is not required for participation, but always appreciated. Rehearsals Wednesday, 4:30 – 6 p.m., Fellowship Hall. Sunday morning, 7:55 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Special EventsThe choir gathers in winter for a Twelfth Night potluck in January, a picnic in the summer and numerous impromptu frolics. Cheryl is a graduate of Oakland University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal music education, grades K - 12. She taught elementary vocal music in the Detroit metropolitan area as well as in northern Michigan. Cheryl is a past choir director at the Traverse City Presbyterian Church. She has been directing the Elk Lake Community Choir for a number of years and has participated in the Elk Rapids Rotary Show as well. Cheryl and her husband, George, live on Elk Lake. They have two daughters and a son living in the immediate area as well as one son residing in Boston.
