Building Committee

Each month we will publish questions from the membership.  A brochure of the building project is available in the office for your convenience.  Your voice is important to us and here are some of the questions our members asked

Q.        Are the monies from the general fund going to support the building Capital Campaign?

A.        No they are not.  They are two different funds. The monies that are pledged from the general operating fund cannot be used for the building fund.  The General Operating Fund and the Building Fund are two separate funds.  If you are holding back from making your annual contribution for the general church operations, please make your commitment now.

The building committee will not be asking for pledges or monies for the proposed renovations and expansion until the master plan is presented at the May 4th General Congregation Meeting.  At that time, a separate building campaign will begin specifically for this project.  Mark your calendars to attend this exciting Building Kick-Off event on May 4, 2008!

Q.        Why are we considering a new building Capital Campaign at the same time we will be looking for a new pastor?

A.        The last time the First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids completed a building expansion project, we were in the same transition period.  An active church congregation which is growing, wonderful youth programs expanding and a new facilities construction project which is underway to meet the needs of the community will be a positive attraction for a new pastor.  These are very exciting times for the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids!
