|  Meet the Youth DirectorHey, my name is Gary and I am the Director of Youth Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church. You may know the youth program as the Lighthouse Youth Ministry. I am married to a magnificent, supportive, and patient wife, Pam. I have 2 wonderful daughters, one is a senior this year and the other just graduated from college. Not only did I feel a calling from God, but the other reason I entered the ministry was due to my daughters. I have enjoyed being a part of my daughter’s life and have had the unique opportunity to share in the many lives of other youth. I enjoy kids of all ages, 0-99. My dad is a pastor and I grew up in and around church. I have been involved in many churches over the years. We have been members of the Reformed and Christian Reformed Church, United Methodist, ELCA and Presbyterian. The most important factor in dealing with youth is helping them develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Each of us are at a different step in our walk and Jesus wants to walk with us on our journey. But, that only comes through a personal relationship. This is where we want to help. We offer youth group nights where we talk about things that matter most in a youth’s life such as music, relationships in and out of school, pressures of school life, temptations, and choices that we have to make daily. Then we bring it back to what the Bible has to say about it and discuss how the Bible really relates to us even though it was written so many years ago. We offer weekend retreats, trips, mission trips, community service events and in-depth Bible Studies. | |
